CPL 2023: Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings Unveil Retained Players

both Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings have revealed their retention choices ahead of CPL 2023.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 will kick off on August 17 and the most successful franchise of the tournament, Trinbago Knight Riders, as well as St Lucia Kings, have announced their retentions ahead of the tournament.

Trinbago Knight Riders have retained captain Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Nicholas Pooran. Akeal Hosein and Jayden Seales have also been retained to strengthen their bowling attack. Additionally, they will welcome Mark Deyal, who joins the team after his stint with St Lucia Kings.

Here’s what head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders, Phil Simmons was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo:

“We are very happy to be able to retain most of the Caribbean players from last year’s TKR squad. The experience of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran coupled with Dwayne Bravo’s return gives our squad a very strong core. In youngsters like Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seales, and Mark Deyal, we have some of the best young talent from Trinidad representing TKR.”

“We’re looking forward to the remaining international signings, and I am excited by the player draft coming up soon to complete the roster and put together a strong squad for CPL 2023.”

St Lucia Kings Retentions

St Lucia Kings, on the other hand, have decided to retain Johnson Charles, Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase, Roshon Primus, Jeavor Royal, Matthew Forde, and Mckenny Clarke as they continue building their core team.

Furthermore, they have managed to secure the services of all-rounder Khary Pierre, who moves to their camp after his stint with the Trinbago Knight Riders. The announcement of overseas players and draft picks is scheduled to take place by the end of June.
