Defending champions Perth Scorchers have suffered another injury setback as their ace pacer Tymal Mills has pulled out of the entire Big Bash League (BBL) 2022-23 season due to a family emergency.
The Perth-based club issued a statement on Tymal Mills’ unavailability and also informed that they are currently looking for an international replacement for the star pacer.
“The club fully supports Mills’ decision and sends its thoughts and best wishes to his family during this time. Perth is exploring its options to recruit an international replacement player,” Perth Scorchers said in a statement.
Earlier, their opening batter Philip Salt and Mitchell Marsh were ruled out of the tournament due to respective injuries. The Scorchers also terminated the contract of Laurie Evans, who tested positive for a doping test.
The former England Test opener Adam Lyth has been announced as the replacement for Phil Salt, while South African superstar Faf du Plessis will join the squad as Laurie Evans’ replacement.
Both Lyth and du Plessis will be available for the first half of the season as they have other commitments with other T20 leagues and will miss the second half of the Big Bash League. Stephen Eskinazi, meanwhile, signed a full-season contract with Perth Scorchers.
