India’s star spinner Kuldeep Yadav attributed the dismissal of Sadeera Samarawickrama during the India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup Super Fours match in Colombo to wicketkeeper KL Rahul.
Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka were totally in control, dealing with Kuldeep like pros. Then, Rahul stepped up and told Kuldeep to change the line of attack, which eventually paid off as Samarawickrama got stumped.
“KL bhai had told me to spin the ball from outside the off-stump. I was bowling on the middle stump line and that was a bit easier for the batter to manage. So KL bhai told me to get the ball outside the off-stump line and that worked really well because I also got a lot of drift. So I would thank KL Bhai for that,” said Kuldeep Yadav while Speaking to Suryakumar Yadav in a video posted by BCCI.
Kuldeep Yadav, the star of the match with his five-wicket haul against Pakistan, once again showcased his brilliance by bagging four wickets against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours encounter on Tuesday, September 12 at R.Premadasa Stadium.
KL Rahul, the wicket-keeper batter, played a massive part in guiding Kuldeep Yadav by constantly chirping from behind the stumps, helping him predict the batter’s shots and adjust his line of attack.
Meanwhile, when asked about it during the post-match conference, KL Rahul humbly brushed off any credit, insisting that Kuldeep Yadav’s genius game plan and impeccable execution, along with his exceptional bowling, were the real reasons behind those wickets.
