
The swashbuckling West Indian batsman, Andre Russell has ripped off the St Lucia Kings’ bowlers on Friday as he went on to smash the fastest fifty in the history of the Caribbean Premier League .
Russell smashed 14-ball fifty with the help of 3 fours and 6 sixes to script history at the Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. Earlier, South African batsman JP Duminy held the record for fastest fifty in the CPL as he scored a half-century in 15 balls in the 2019 season of the tournament.
Evin Lewis is third in the tally as he smashed 17-ball fifty in the 2019 season of CPL while Sohail Tanvir Pollard are fourth and fifth in the list, having smashed fifty in just 18 balls.

Earlier, St Lucia Kings skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and invited Jamaica Tallawahs to bat first. Coming to bat, the Tallawahs got a blistering start as their openers Chadwick Walton and Kennar Lewis went on to smash 47 and 48 runs respectively.
Middle order batsman, Haider Ali (45 off 32) and Rovman Powell (38 off 26) also did their part well. Finally, Andre Russell, who came to bat at number 5 gave a final touch to the team as he went to smash a 14-ball fifty with the help of 3 fours and 6 sixes.
Thanks to Russell storm, Jamaica Tallawahs went on to post a mammoth score of 225, which is also the second highest total in CPL history on the scoreboard at the end of 20 overs.
The highest total in the CPL is 267/2 was scored by the Trinbago Knight Riders against the Tallawahs in the 2019 edition of the championship.
Coming to chase, St Lucia Kings bundled up on just 135 runs and lost the match by 120 runs. Tim David, the new signing of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL was their highest scorer as he scored 56 off just 28 deliveries. Wahab Riaz was their second highest run-getter, having smashed 26 off 29 with the help of 3 fours.
