He Can Still be a Valuable Asset For India: Mohammad Kaif Bats For Ravichandran Ashwin to Represent India in T20Is

Former India cricketer and Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach Mohammad Kaif believes that the Indian team should include Ashwin in the T20I team as he can be a valuable asset.

A former batsman of the Indian cricket team, Mohammad Kaif, through his tweet, raised his voice against Team India’s senior spinner R Ashwin not being included in the Indian T20 squad, while he did well in the recently concluded IPL 2020. Kaif, assistant head coach of Delhi Capitals, had a close look at R Ashwin’s performance in IPL and he feels that R Ashwin has a lot to offer and he can prove to be a valuable asset for Team India in T20 cricket.

To justify his point, Kaif also mentioned some important wickets taken by R Ashwin. R Ashwin, who led the spin bowling attack for Delhi Capitals, bowled out big batsmen like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and David Warner in IPL 2020.

Not only this, he had dismissed batsmen like Virat, Rohit, Pollard, Gayle, Warner, de Kock, Karun Nair, Jos Buttler, Steve Smith, Devdutt Padikkal, Nicholas Puran in the powerplay.

Kaif tweeted that R Ashwin can prove to be a valuable player for Team India in T20 cricket.

“Virat, Rohit, Pollard, Gayle, Warner, QDK, Karun, Buttler, Smith, Paddikal, Pooran. Read and re-read @ashwinravi99’s list of big scalps from IPL 13, mostly in power plays. Feel Ash can still be a valuable asset for India in T20Is,” Kaif tweeted.

R Ashwin continues to be a part of the Indian Test team while he has not been playing for Team India in the limited format since 2017. He played the last ODI for India in June 2017 while the last T20 match was played in July 2017. He played both these matches against the West Indies.

As long as his IPL 2020 record is concerned, Ashwin took 13 wickets in 15 games at an economy of 7.66.

Meanwhile, Ashwin is gearing up for the upcoming Test series against Australia. On Monday, in the net session, Ashwin was seen launching volleys to KL Rahul using a tennis racquet, and the wicket-keeper batsman was seen practising pull shots.

The first Test between India and Australia will commence from December 17 at the Adelaide Oval and this will be a day-night contest.
