Like Suryakumar Yadav There Are 3-4 Other Players on The Fringe: Ravi Shastri
The selectors are being questioned about Suryakumar Yadav not being selected in the team. Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has also hailed Suryakumar for his phenomenal batting skills and advised him to have patience.
Mumbai Indians‘ batsman Suryakumar Yadav has performed sensationally in the 13th edition of Indian Premier League. He has scored 374 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 153.27, which includes three half-centuries.
On the basis of his performance, he was expected to be selected in the team India that will be visiting Australia this month. But it didn’t happen as expected as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn’t name him in the squad for the tour of Australia.
However, ever since the team has announced, the selectors are being questioned about SKY not being selected in the team.
Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has also hailed Suryakumar for his phenomenal batting skills and advised him to have patience. He even tweeted several times on social media praising Suryakumar for his good batting skills.
Now speaking to Times Now, Shastri stated that there are many other players like Suryakumar who are waiting for a place in Team India but currently Indian team is packed with talent, so there is no room for the 30-year-old to make the cut.
“That’s why we say to these youngsters – be patient. Like Suryakumar there are 3-4 other players on the fringe but when you have a team that is packed with talent and experience it becomes very difficult to get in,” Shastri told Times Now in an exclusive interview.
“I remember a period in my career when 1-6 in the Indian batting line-up everyone was certain of their places and it was difficult for anyone to penetrate that middle-order and yet you had some people who were scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket and knocking at the door,” he added.
Team India will leave for Australia from UAE soon after the completion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The first two ODIs will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 27 and 29 November. After this, the last ODI will be held at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The first T20 will also be played in Canberra followed by the last two T20s in Sydney. The pink ball test will be played in the floodlight in Adelaide from December 17 to 21.
