Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Sign Historic Deal to Build ICC-Standard Stadium in Jeddah
PCB and Saudi Cricket Federation sign MoU to build an ICC-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah, boosting Saudi Arabia's global cricket ambitions.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation (SACF) have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a world-class cricket stadium in Jeddah. The project marks a major step in Saudi Arabia’s plans to grow the sport and host international cricket in the future.
The agreement was signed in Riyadh by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and SACF Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Mohammad Al Saud. The partnership brings together Pakistan’s cricket expertise and Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in sports infrastructure.
The new stadium will be built to meet all International Cricket Council (ICC) standards. It is expected to offer top-quality playing conditions and modern facilities for players, officials, broadcasters, and fans.
The venue will include high-quality playing surfaces, advanced broadcast and media boxes, training centres, premium hospitality suites, and improved spectator amenities. These features are aimed at making the stadium suitable for hosting major international matches and tournaments.
As part of the agreement, the PCB will share its technical knowledge and operational experience with the SACF. Pakistan will support the planning, design, and development of cricket facilities, helping Saudi Arabia strengthen its cricket infrastructure.
The project also supports Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s long-term plan to diversify its economy through investments in sports, tourism, and entertainment. A modern cricket stadium is expected to help Saudi Arabia attract international events and increase public participation in the sport.
The partnership goes beyond building the stadium. Both cricket boards have agreed to work together on coaching clinics, joint cricket competitions, and exchange programmes for players, umpires, coaches, and technical staff. These initiatives are expected to boost cricket development in both countries.
Cricket has grown rapidly in Saudi Arabia over the past few years, largely because of the country’s large South Asian expatriate community. Since the formation of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, interest in the game has continued to rise, creating strong demand for better facilities and more competitive opportunities.
The proposed stadium in Jeddah could become a key venue in Saudi Arabia’s cricket journey and strengthen its ambition to become a future destination for global cricket events.
