Smriti Mandhana Joins Elite Club with 10,000 International Runs
Smriti Mandhana completes 10,000 international runs during the fourth T20I vs Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram.
Smriti Mandhana scripted another big moment in her career on Saturday, completing 10,000 international runs during the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka at Greenfield International Stadium.
Mandhana came into the match needing 27 runs, with 9,972 runs already to her name across Tests, ODIs and T20Is. She got there in style, playing a calm push to long-on to bring up the landmark.
The left-hander became only the fourth woman in international cricket and the second Indian to cross 10,000 runs. She joined former India captain Mithali Raj in an elite list that shows rare consistency over many years.
India were already 3–0 up in the five-match T20I series, but Mandhana ensured the fourth game had its own story. Opening with Shafali Verma, she allowed her partner to attack freely while holding one end steady.
The pair gave India a flying start, racing to 61 without loss in the powerplay. Shafali played the aggressive role, while Mandhana picked her moments and kept the scoreboard moving.
By the 10th over, Mandhana was unbeaten on 37 off 31 balls, hitting six boundaries. Shafali was close to her half-century with 48 off 29 balls, as Sri Lanka struggled to slow the run flow.
Mandhana’s milestone puts her alongside some of the biggest names in women’s cricket. The list includes Suzie Bates and Charlotte Edwards, underlining the level she has reached.
Across formats, Mandhana has been India’s most reliable top-order batter for nearly a decade. From red-ball cricket to high-pressure T20Is, she has adapted her game without losing her natural flair.
