ICC ODI Rankings: Virat Kohli Climbs to No. 2, Inches Closer to Rohit Sharma’s No. 1 Spot

Virat Kohli has jumped to No. 2 in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings after a brilliant series against South Africa. He is now only 8 points behind Rohit Sharma, who continues to hold the No. 1 spot.

Kohli moved up two places and now sits on 773 rating points. Rohit is still at the top with 781 points. The gap narrowed after Kohli scored 302 runs in the three match ODI series at an average of 151. He smashed back to back hundreds in Ranchi and Raipur.

India won the series 2-1 and Kohli was named Player of the Series. His form has put him close to the No. 1 ODI ranking, a position he last held in March 2021. Rohit had a steady series too, scoring 146 runs, which helped him keep his place at the top.

Daryl Mitchell is ranked No. 3, Ibrahim Zadran is No. 4 and Shubman Gill is No. 5. India now have four batters in the top 10 because Shreyas Iyer is placed at No. 10.

Kuldeep Yadav also enjoyed a rise in the bowling charts. He climbed three spots to No. 3 after taking 9 wickets in the series. His spell of 4 for 41 in the final ODI helped India seal the win. Rashid Khan remains No. 1 and Jofra Archer stays at No. 2.

In the all rounder list, Azmatullah Omarzai holds the No. 1 ranking. Sikandar Raza, Mohammad Nabi and Mehidy Hasan Miraz follow him.

The new rankings show India’s strength in ODI cricket with many players in top positions. It also sets up an exciting race between Rohit and Kohli for the No. 1 batting spot in the coming months.
