The IPL 2026 trade market is heating up with fresh rumours every day. After reports of Delhi Capitals planning a swap deal with Rajasthan Royals for Sanju Samson, another big story has come up.
Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly showing interest in signing KL Rahul from Delhi ahead of the new season. According to a report in the Times of India, KKR are keen to bring Rahul into their team.
But the problem is that Delhi might not find a suitable player to trade in return. Kolkata would never let go of big names like Rinku Singh or young Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Both are considered future stars for the franchise.
All-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are still untouchable. They have been with KKR for years and continue to be the team’s backbone. Delhi might prefer a younger player, but Kolkata’s best young options are already off the table.
As for Venkatesh Iyer, his poor run in IPL 2025 and a massive price tag of 23.75 crore have made him a tough player to trade. KKR are also expected to go all-in for Cameron Green in the IPL 2026 auction. Releasing Iyer could help them create enough space in their purse for that move.
After a disappointing 2025 season under Ajinkya Rahane, where they failed to reach the playoffs, KKR are expected to make big changes. Bringing KL Rahul into the mix could be a strong step toward rebuilding their team.
