Prithvi Shaw Smashes Century on Maharashtra Debut, Sends Message to Selectors
Prithvi Shaw starts his redemption arc with a 140-ball century for Maharashtra against Mumbai, aiming to catch BCCI selectors’ attention.
Prithvi Shaw made a powerful statement in domestic cricket, smashing a fluent century for Maharashtra against his former team Mumbai.
Shaw reached his 100 off 140 balls, dominating the Mumbai bowlers in a warm-up match ahead of the Ranji Trophy season.
The 25-year-old opener, who made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2016-17 and earned his Test cap in 2017-18, has switched to Maharashtra after facing fitness and form issues with his old side.
Shaw is now focused on reviving his career and catching the eye of BCCI selectors once again. Shaw’s opening partner, Arshin Kulkarni, also impressed with a 150-run knock, helping Maharashtra set a strong platform.
Shaw eventually fell for 111 off 141 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and a six, but his century clearly stamped his authority.
This match came after Shaw’s debut for Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, where he scored a century against Chhattisgarh, signaling his intent to bounce back in style.
Shaw has represented India in five Tests and six ODIs, but inconsistencies and fitness concerns saw him dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji squad last season.
Now, with Maharashtra, he seems determined to revive his career and make a case for a return to the national side.
