Pakistan’s Leading Run-Getter vs India Fined by ICC After World Cup Match
Pakistan batter Sidra Amin received an official warning and one demerit point for breaching ICC’s Code of Conduct after showing frustration following her dismissal against India in the Women’s World Cup 2025
Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been handed an official warning and one demerit point by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct during her team’s Women’s World Cup 2025 match against India.
The incident occurred in the 40th over of Pakistan’s run chase when Sidra, frustrated after her dismissal, struck her bat on the pitch. She was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings.
Sidra, who top-scored for Pakistan with 81 runs off 106 balls, was charged by the on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, along with third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton. The sanction was confirmed by match referee Shandre Fritz.
The breach was classified as a Level 1 offence, the least severe under the ICC Code, with penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of the player’s match fee and the addition of one or two demerit points.
Despite Sidra’s fighting innings, Pakistan lost to India by 88 runs – their second consecutive defeat in the tournament after an opening loss to Bangladesh.
Pakistan will look to bounce back when they face Australia on October 8 in their next World Cup fixture.
