Afghanistan got their Asia Cup 2025 campaign off to a flying start with a dominant 94-run win over Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi. Batting first, Rashid Khan’s side posted 188/6 before restricting the visitors to just 94/9 in their 20 overs.
Star Performances with the Bat
Sediqullah Atal was the top scorer for Afghanistan, smashing an unbeaten 73 off 52 balls, including six sixes and three fours. Veteran Mohammad Nabi provided crucial support with 33 off 26 balls when the team needed stability.
Azmatullah Omarzai also shone with the bat, scoring 53 off 21 balls, hitting five sixes and two fours, and was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Bowling Brilliance
Gulbadin Naib was the standout bowler, taking two wickets for just 8 runs in three overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi impressed as well, claiming two wickets while giving away only 16 runs in his three overs.
Omarzai chipped in with a wicket for only 4 runs from two overs, helping Afghanistan dominate every aspect of the game.
