Not Mumbai or Kolkata – Ahmedabad to Host IPL Final, Play-Offs Start in Chandigarh

The IPL 2025 final will be held in Ahmedabad, while the play-offs will begin in Chandigarh due to weather concerns.

The final of IPL 2025 will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. The decision was taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during a meeting held on Tuesday. Along with the final, Ahmedabad will also host Qualifier 2 on June 1.

Meanwhile, the first two playoff matches Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator are expected to take place in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, on May 29 and May 30. The BCCI considered the weather before finalising the venues, as the rainy season has slowly started in some parts of the country.

So far, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings have already secured their places in the playoffs. Now, only one spot is left, and Lucknow Super Giants have been eliminated after their recent loss.

This leaves Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals as the only two teams in the race for the last playoff spot. The upcoming match between them at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is going to be a do-or-die clash for both sides. The winner of this game will get a step closer to the final spot in the top four.
