Punjab Kings (PBKS), previously known as Kings XI Punjab, is one of the most entertaining franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, despite having star-studded line-ups over the years, the team is yet to lift the coveted IPL trophy. Known for their vibrant red and gold colors, the team’s loyal fanbase continues to support them passionately with the slogan “Sadda Punjab” (Our Punjab).

Formed in 2008, Punjab Kings have shown flashes of brilliance in several IPL seasons but have often struggled with consistency. One of the key challenges for the franchise has been its constant shuffling of players and coaching staff, which has impacted team’s unity. Despite these challenges, the franchise remains committed to turning things around and achieving IPL glory.

While Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali served as the home for Punjab Kings for several years, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) now play their home matches at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Mohali, Punjab. The stadium is named after Yadavindra Singh, who played one Test for India in 1934. They also play some of their matches at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. 

Ahead of IPL 2025, PBKS appointed Ricky Ponting as their Head Coach, bringing in a fresh vision to the team. Ponting, known for his success as a coach and former captain of Australia, aims to bring stability to the franchise. Punjab Kings hope that his leadership can help them overcome their inconsistency and transform the team into a strong contender.
