

UP Warriorz, on Wednesday (February 22) appointed experienced Australian opener Alyssa Healy as their captain for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
During the WPL 2023 auction held earlier this month, the Capri Global Holdings Private Limited-owned franchise acquired the services of the star Australian Alyssa Healy for INR 70 lakh.
Alyssa Healy’s Statement:
“The WPL is a tournament we have all been keenly waiting on, and the UP Warriorz have a fantastic squad, waiting to make a splash once things get going.”
“We have a good mix of experience and youth along with ability and look forward to putting on a show for our fans. We are here to win and be ruthless in our brand of cricket.”
Healy’s remarkable career includes five T20 World Cup win (2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2020) and a recent win in the ODI World Cup in New Zealand. She has amassed 2446 T20I runs at a strike rate of almost 128, with one century and 14 half-centuries to her name.
Alyssa Healy’s credentials as a leader are impressive, having recently captained the Australian T20I team in India and the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL. With her experience, Healy will prove to be a valuable asset to UP Warriorz in the tournament.

Rajesh Sharma, the managing Director of Capri Globals, and the owner of Warriorz, also expressed his excitement over the recent appointment of Alyssa Healy as the team’s captain for the upcoming tournament.

The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League is set to take place in Mumbai from March 4th to March 26th, 2023, with the Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium serving as venues for the 22 matches.
The UP Warriorz will begin their tournament campaign on March 5th against Gujarat Giants in the second game of the day at the DY Patil Stadium.
