Virat Kohli declined fans’ request to bowl over in the Sri Lanka match.
Team India registered their seventh consecutive victory in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, beating Sri Lanka by 302 runs on Thursday, November 2nd, at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, to become the first team to qualify for the semifinals.
Virat Kohli delivered a spectacular performance, scoring 88 runs off 94 balls, featuring 11 boundaries. Shubman Gill played a run-a-ball innings, amassing 94 runs, while Shreyas Iyer contributed 83 runs. This collective effort powered India to a massive total of 357 runs.
Sri Lanka had no comeback as they got dismissed for a mere 55 runs in just 19.4 overs. Mohammed Shami was the star, picking up a five-wicket haul, his second in the tournament. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj chipped in with three wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja each took one.
Amid all this, something hilarious went down at Wankhede Stadium. The crowd was requesting Rohit Sharma to let Virat Kohli bowl an over, but Virat, right there on the field, playfully waved them off with a joined-hands gesture. Now, that video is blowing up on social media.

Virat Kohli had a chance to try his hand at bowling during an earlier match in the tournament. This opportunity arose when Hardik Pandya injured his ankle while bowling against Bangladesh in Pune. Kohli took over and bowled the remaining three balls of Hardik Pandya’s over, and conceded only two runs.
