Australia suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Team India on Friday, September 20th, in the first ODI of the three-game series, hosted at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
It was captain KL Rahul who provided the fireworks in the run-chase, launching a spectacular six over long off against Sean Abbott, a moment that instantly brought back memories of MS Dhoni’s historic World Cup-winning six in 2011.
Fans reactions to KL Rahul’s match-winning six against Australia:
As far as the match is concerned, Team India bowled out Australia for 276 runs after putting them to bat first. In reply, India rode on the half-centuries delivered by Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Captain KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav to chase down the target in 48.5 overs.
India, currently in the lead with a 1-0 score in the three-match series, will face off against Australia in the second ODI on Sunday, September 24, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
