The fiery exchange between Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and Virat Kohli created a buzz during the IPL 2023 season, making it a standout moment. As a result, fans were eagerly anticipating their face-off in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.
However, the fans were left rather disappointed on Sunday (August 27) as Naveen-ul-Haq didn’t find a spot in Afghanistan’s 17-member squad for the continental tournament.
Naveen’s last appearance in the 50-overs format was in January 2021. He has represented Afghanistan in seven ODIs so far, in which he picked up 14 wickets at an average of 25.42.
However, the snub from the Asia Cup selection has clearly affected him deeply. This is evident from the cryptic message that the right-arm fast bowler posted on social media soon after the squad announcement.
“No matter how well your eyes adjust to darkness, you’ll never mistake it for light,” he wrote on Instagram.
