Mumbai Indians receive a major boost ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, as Jofra Archer, their star pacer is now fit and will be available for the entire season.
With doubts lingering over his fitness due to past injuries, Jofra Archer’s availability for the T20 league was uncertain. However, it has now been confirmed that he will participate in the entire season.
According to a report from Cricbuzz, the English speedster will play in IPL 2023, but his workload will be monitored by the team, and he could be rested for some matches if required.
“He should be able to play a full part in the IPL and as always his franchisee and the ECB will manage his workload. Jofra is very much available, have you not seen him in action in the Dhaka ODI,” a source was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Archer hasn’t played an IPL game since 2020 due to back-to-back recurring injuries. The five-time champions bought him in IPL 2022 for INR 8 Crore in a mega auction but he missed the entire season due to a back injury.
The last time Jofra Archer played in an IPL game was in 2020, as he has been struggling with recurring injuries. The Mumbai Indians signed him in the IPL 2022 auction for INR 8 Crore, but he was forced to sit out the entire season due to a back injury.
Jofra Archer is fit and back
With Jasprit Bumrah set to miss the IPL 2023, the Mumbai Indians are counting on Jofra Archer to step up and deliver the best. It remains to be seen how the team will manage his workload and use him, and whether he can live up to expectations after his injury layoff.
Once the ongoing Bangladesh series is over, Jofra Archer will head to the MI Camp to train with his Mumbai Indians teammates before the start of the IPL season. The five-time champions will begin their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2.
