The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have rejiggled their squad ahead of IPL 2023 auction as they released a plethora of players during the retention window.
The Yellow Brigade released Dwayne Bravo, who has been a big servant for Chennai Super Kings over the years. The West Indies all-rounder had a decent run in IPL 2022 as he scalped 16 wickets in 10 matches.
However, he struggled to get runs with the bat and managed only 23 runs in the tournament. Apart from Bravo, they have released Adam Milne, Hari Nishaanth, and Chris Jordan as well ahead of the mini-auction.
The Super Kings, however, have retained their core in MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Moeen Ali and will look to fill the remaining voids in the IPL 2023 auction. On that note, we look at the list of three players that CSK will target in the upcoming auction.
1. Harry Brook
Chennai Super Kings lacked a proper spin basher in the middle order in the 2022 edition of the tournament. They can target England’s Harry Brook for this role.
Young prodigy Brook can be their proper number 4 batter. He can exploit the conditions when the ball becomes a little old and attack them, exploring his wide range to push the opposition on the back foot.

2. Sam Curran
The ‘Kadai Kutty Singam’ might be one of the ‘hottest properties’ in the upcoming mini-auction, especially after his stellar outing in the by-gone T20 World Cup. The English all-rounder played the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons for CSK and missed the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league due to injury.
Heading into the IPL 2023 auction, Chennai Super Kings have a slot open for an overseas fast bowler, who can bowl well in death overs as well. Meanwhile, Sam Curran ticks all the boxes truly well, and CSK will surely go after him in the auction.

3. KS Bharat
Delhi Capitals released KS Bharat from their set-up ahead of IPL 2023 auction. Ravindra Jadeja, one of the retained players of CSK recently asked KS Bharat to join CSK after the latter dropped in with two yellow heart emojis on an Instagram post.
This might come true. Given MS Dhoni will announce retirement post-2023 IPL season, the Super Kings will look to get their hands on a reliable wicketkeeper and a middle-order batter and KS Bharat could be the best choice in that case.
