It is evident that Chennai Super Kings is having a tough time in UAE from day one. First, their contingent members, including 2 staff members tested positive for COVID-19. However, after a week, they have tested negative after taking several precautions. Then Suresh Raina pulled out of IPL 2020. He had flown to UAE but came back due to some personal reasons. And recently Harbhajan Singh also decided to pull out of IPL 2020.
This decision of Harbhajan Singh has surely shaken CSK. Now they are looking for his replacement. It is obvious that they can not find an exact replacement for their lead spinner but they are trying their best. Amid this, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta has his say. According to him, Jalaj Saxena can be a good replacement for Harbhajan Singh.
I think Jalaj Saxena deserves a place, he’s a good enough all-rounder. I think they might look at him, he’s a very good option for Bhajji’s replacement, Dasgupta told ESPNcricinfo.
He’s someone who has got a lot of experience not just in red-ball cricket but also in white-ball cricket he’s been around for a while, he added.
He didn’t play much after last season but with someone of that experience, you have to back them and that’s what CSK has done. So they will miss him, maybe not too much but a bit for sure, Dasgupta said on Harbhajan.
Jalaj Saxena
Jalaj Saxena is a right-hand batsman and off-break bowler. Saxena has a lot of experience across all formats of the game and has picked up 49 wickets in 54 T20s at an economy rate of 6.92. He has been a player of Royal Challengers Bangalore(2015), Mumbai Indians(2013) and Delhi Capitals (2018). Evidently, he hasn’t played any matches in IPL. But he has a potential and opportunity to prove himself now in the absence of Harbhajan Singh in CSK.
