Australia coach Justin Langer is wishing for all-rounder Cameron Green’s availability in the first Day-night Test against the visitors, which is scheduled to start from December 17 in Adelaide.
Young all-rounder Cameron Green was substituted out of Australia A’s tour match against the Indians after copping the full force of a Jasprit Bumrah drives to the face.
The Australia camp remains hopeful that exciting young allrounder Cameron Green can make his way to Adelaide to be part of the Test squad ahead of next Thursday’s Vodafone series opener against India.
“Fingers crossed (about Green’s availability). The guys from Australia A arrived a couple of hours ago. He turned up with a big smile on his face,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Langer as saying to Channel Seven.
“[There’s a] massive opportunity potentially ahead for him to make his Test debut. He looks in really good spirits. He’s got training tomorrow and Wednesday. Fingers crossed he’ll be right to go — he’s a real talent,” he added.
Earlier this week, Australian batsman Will Pucovski suffered a concussion after being struck on the helmet by pacer Kartik Tyagi during the first warm-up game.
Opener David Warner has already been ruled out of the first Test due to a groin injury suffered during the second ODI. Marcus Harris is likely to get the nod alongside Joe Burns but the two batsmen were struggling to put the bat on the ball against the Indian pace attack in the pink-ball warm-up match.
The much anticipated four-match Test series is slated, to begin with, a Day-Night game in Adelaide from December 17.
