South Africa recorded three centuries in a single innings during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka in Delhi on Saturday. This is the first time in World Cup history that three batters from a single team have hit a century.
Their efforts were further bolstered by Aiden Markam, who recorded a hundred in just 49 balls, setting a new World Cup record for the fastest century.
Now, South Africa stands alone as the sole team to have notched up three centuries in a single ODI innings. They had achieved this remarkable feat twice before, in 2015 against West Indies and India.
England is the only other team to have scored three hundreds in an innings, against the Netherlands in 2022 where it recorded the highest-ever ODI total of 498 runs.
