

India will open its ICC World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8. The quadrennial tournament will kick off on October 5 in Ahmedabad with defending champion England taking on 2019 runner-up New Zealand.
India will lock horns with the archrival Pakistan on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be the third successive year where the two teams will lock horns in an ICC event in October, having previously met in the T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE and T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Meanwhile, the umpires for the much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan has been revealed. Richard Illingworth and Marais Erasmus will be the on-field umpires for the India vs Pakistan match during the ICC World Cup 2023, while Richard Kettleborough will be the TV umpire.
The Pakistan team is expected to receive their Indian visas on September 25, after which they will proceed to Dubai. From Dubai, they will catch a flight to Hyderabad, India, where they are scheduled to engage in a couple of warm-up matches before commencing their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands.
