ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 will be held in India from February 14 to 28, featuring six top teams.
The inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in India from February 14 to 28, 2027, marking a new addition to the international women’s cricket calendar.
The tournament will feature six teams, with Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka set to compete for the title.
Matches will be played at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara.
The competition will follow a T20I round-robin format, with all six teams battling for a place in the final. The top two teams in the standings will meet in the title clash on February 28.
India Replaces Sri Lanka as Host
The tournament was initially planned to take place in Sri Lanka. However, the ICC decided to move the event to India after assessing Bangladesh, India and South Africa against its host selection criteria.
The decision came amid ongoing administrative reforms in Sri Lanka, leading the ICC to select India as the new host for the first edition of the tournament.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah said the event could give women’s cricket a major boost and create more opportunities for teams to compete at the highest level.
“The ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 marks an exciting new chapter for women’s cricket,” Shah said in a media release.
He added that the tournament would bring the world’s best teams together and give sides greater motivation to improve their rankings and compete on the global stage.
Shah also pointed to the ICC’s plan to stage a major women’s event every year, saying it can create greater momentum and consistency for players and fans around the world.
The 2027 edition will therefore not only crown the first Women’s Champions Trophy winner but also add another major tournament to the growing women’s cricket calendar.
