The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI), defeated by Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets in their first match, will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Wednesday in their second match of the 13th season of the IPL. Whereas it will be the first match of this season for Dinesh Karthik led Kolkata knight Riders (KKR).

This time Kolkata has released their experienced players Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Piyush Chawla and have brought Pat Cummins, Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton into their team. Kolkata’s batting attack has talented young players like Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill. To strengthen their batting, the franchise has also included Tom Banton in the team.

At the same time, KKR’s middle order looks dangerous with Andre Russell. It has gained strength with the arrival of England captain Eoin Morgan. Sunil Narine can start the innings with Tom Benton or Gill. All three can give a fast start to the team. In the past several seasons, it has been seen that the success of KKR depends to a large extent on the spinners and the names of Narine, Kuldeep Yadav. Varun Chakraborty is in the spin attack of the team. Varun has not played a single match in the IPL so far. Therefore, more responsibility for the spin will be on Kuldeep and Narine.

Kolkata has another option in the form of Chris Green, but due to little experience, he hardly gets a chance. Kolkata has strengthened their pace bowling attack after the 2019 season proved poor. This time the team has included Pat Cummins. Lockie Ferguson, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi have options in fast bowling.

Kolkata has also included an American star Ali Khan this year. He did well in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Practically speaking, Mumbai’s team seems to dominate Karthik’s team. Both teams have played a total of 25 matches so far, of which Mumbai have won 19 matches.
