It was an emotional evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium as Gujarat Titans (GT) crashed out of IPL 2025 after losing the Eliminator match to Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs. One of the most heart-breaking moments came when GT head coach Ashish Nehra’s son, Arush, was seen crying in the stands following the team’s defeat.
Wearing the Gujarat Titans jersey, Arush couldn’t hold back his tears as his father’s team failed to chase the huge target of 229 runs. The visuals of the young boy breaking down quickly went viral on social media, drawing emotional reactions from fans.
Gujarat Titans Fall Short in Big Chase
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a big total of 228 runs, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s explosive knock of 81 runs. In reply, GT lost their skipper Shubman Gill early for just 1 run in the first over.
However, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar brought some hope by stitching together a steady partnership. Sundar played a quickfire knock of 48 off 24 balls, but his dismissal by Jasprit Bumrah in the 14th over turned the game in MI’s favour.
Sudharsan tried to keep the chase alive with a brilliant 80 off 49 deliveries but failed to take his side over the line. He was bowled while attempting a scoop shot in the 18th over. In the end, Gujarat Titans were restricted to 208/7, falling 20 runs short.
Sai Sudharsan Shines Despite Loss
Despite the loss, Sai Sudharsan reached the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard. He has now scored 759 runs in 15 matches this season, making it a memorable IPL campaign individually.
