Suryakumar Yadav become the first ever India batter to score 1,000 runs or more in a calendar year.
Suryakumar Yadav continued his red-hot form and clobbered his third half-century of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 to help India register a thumping 71 runs victory.
Playing in front of a packed Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, 6 November, Suryakumar blasted an unbeaten 61 off 25 to propel India to the mammoth total of 186/5 in 20 overs.
During his unbeaten knock, Suryakumar Yadav achieved a unique milestone as he became the first Indian and only the second player in the world to score 1000 runs or more in a calendar year.

Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batter stands second in the tally as he holds the record for most runs in a calendar year, with 1326 runs from 29 matches in the year of 2021.
Overall, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 1270 runs in 39 T20I matches he played for India at an average of 42.33 and a strike rate of almost 180, including a century and 12 half-centuries.
The 32-year-old recently climbed up to the top of ICC Men’s T20I rankings and is currently the third-highest run-getter in the tournament with 225 runs in five innings at an average of 75 and a startling strike rate of 193.97.
