IPL 2024: How Can RCB Qualify for Playoffs After 47-Run Win Against Delhi Capitals?
RCB are now positioned fifth in the IPL 2024 points table.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) kept their IPL 2024 playoff hopes alive with a convincing 47-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday. This win takes RCB to 12 points from 13 matches, and puts them at number five in the points standings.
RCB also became the first team in the IPL 2024 to have registered five back-to-back wins. They will be playing their last league stage match against Chennai Super Kings on May 18 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Here’s how RCB can qualify for playoffs:
- Win Against CSK: A victory over CSK will propel RCB to 14 points, putting them in a strong position for a top-4 finish.
- Net Run Rate Matters: However, CSK also won their last match, meaning RCB needs a win with a healthy margin to secure a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) for qualification.
- Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Factor: Another team in contention, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), needs to lose at least one of their remaining matches for RCB to qualify.
- DC and Gujarat Titans (GT) Out of Contention (Likely): While Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) can also reach 14 points, their poor NRRs make qualification highly improbable.
