IND vs NZ: Deepak Hooda Achieves Major Landmark in T20 Cricket After Picking Four-Wicket Haul

Deepak Hooda finished with figures of 2.5-0-10-4.

Indian all-rounder Deepak Hooda, on Sunday, November 20, registered the best bowling in T20Is against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.

The off-spinner finished with figures of 2.5-0-10-4 in India’s thumping 65-run victory over Kane Williamson’s men in the 2nd T20I match of the series.

With this, Hooda eclipsed the Gujarat spinner Axar Patel to become the first Indian to pick up a four-wicket haul against New Zealand.

Earlier, Patel held the previous record of best bowling figures of 3-0-9-3 against Black Caps in T20Is in 2021 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Baroda all-rounder also became the fourth bowler to take a four-wicket haul in T20 Internationals between India and New Zealand.

Mitchell Santner, Daniel Vettori, and Trent Boult also hold the record of picking four-wicket hauls between the two nations in T20Is.

Deepak Hooda’s maiden four-fer helped India bowl New Zealand out for 126 in 18.5 overs and register a massive 65-runs victory.

With this win at Bay Oval, India took an unbeaten 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The opening match of the series on Friday in Wellington was washed off without a ball being bowled.

The third and final T20I is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 22 in Napier.
