Yuzvendra Chahal Returns As BCCI Announces India’s T20I Squad Against New Zealand

The BCCI has announced India's 15-man squad for the upcoming home series against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma was named as India's new T20I captain for the series against New Zealand.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday picked a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Team India is scheduled to play 3 T20Is starting from 17th November, 2021.

Rohit Sharma will lead the T20I side as Virat Kohli has been rested while KL Rahul has been given Vice captaincy duties. Ruturaj Gaikwad has also been picked in the squad on the back of his recent heroics in IPL and ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.

In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was kept out of the T20 World Cup squad has also been included in the squad along with R Ashwin and Axar Patel. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener, Venkatesh Iyer, who impressed in the UAE leg of the recently concluded IPL 2021 season, also got his maiden call-up.

Shreyas Iyer, who was added in the reserves for the T20 World Cup, has also been included to the main squad. For the two keepers’ spot, selectors picked will be the duo of Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar Yadav has also been picked in the squad.
