Mumbai Indians stormed into the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final after a dominant 47-run victory over Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator match. With this win, Mumbai Indians will now face Delhi Capitals in the final on March 15 at the Brabourne Stadium.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians put up a massive total of 213/4 in 20 overs. Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt were the stars with the bat, both scoring 77 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also played a quickfire knock of 36 runs from just 12 balls. Gujarat Giants struggled in the field, dropping catches and missing chances, which helped Mumbai cross the 200-run mark. Danielle Gibson was the only bowler with some success, picking up two wickets for 40 runs.
Chasing 214, Gujarat Giants lost wickets at regular intervals and never looked in control. Danielle Gibson (34) and Bharti Fulmali (30) tried to fight back, but Mumbai’s bowlers were too strong. Hayley Matthews shone with the ball as well, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs. Amelia Kerr also picked up two wickets, ensuring Gujarat Giants were bowled out for 166 in 19.2 overs.
With this win, Mumbai Indians have booked their place in the final, where they will take on Delhi Capitals. Gujarat Giants’ campaign ends here, while Mumbai will aim to lift the trophy in the grand finale.
