Women’s T20 Challenge 2020: Jio Announced as Title Sponsor of The League
The third season of the Women's T20 Challenge Series will be getting underway from November 4 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). BCCI has announced the title sponsor for the Women's T20 Challenge Series.
The third season of the Women’s T20 Challenge Series will be getting underway from November 4 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Three teams namely, Trailblazers, Supernovas and Velocity are going to compete against each other in the upcoming league.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the title sponsor for the Women’s T20 Challenge Series and it is none other than ‘JIO”.
This is the first time when BCCI has signed a sponsor exclusively for the Women’s matches.
This partnership will also have the support of Reliance Foundation Education and Sports For All (RF ESA).
After the announcement, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly seemed extremely pleased and hoped that the tournament inspires young girls in the country to take up the sport.
“As BCCI grows the game of cricket across all formats, one key area of focus has been to grow the women’s game. We hope the Jio Women’s T20 Challenge will inspire more young girls to take up the sport and give parents the confidence that playing cricket is a great career opportunity for their daughters,” he said according to the BCCI Press Release.
At the same time, the founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani was delighted to sponsor the Women’s T20 Challenge Series. She also congratulated BCCI for organising such a wonderful league.
“My heartiest congratulations to BCCI for organizing the Women’s T20 Challenge. This is a progressive step towards the growth of women’s cricket in India. I am delighted to offer my full support for this wonderful initiative. I have immense faith in the potential and capabilities of all our sportswomen. Indian women cricketers have made the country proud with their outstanding achievements in ICC events over the last couple of years.
“Our aim is to ensure that we offer the best of infrastructure, training and rehab facilities to our girls. Players like Anjum, Mithali, Smriti, Harmanpreet and Poonam are great role models. I wish them and every member of the Indian women’s squad even greater success and glory in their journey ahead,” Nita said.
The debut match of the league will be played between Supernovas and Velocity on November 4.
