Indian cricket fans were surprised to see Virat Kohli missing from the first batch of players departing for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA. While Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and others boarded the flight from Mumbai on Saturday, May 25th, Kohli’s absence sparked questions.
The reason for the delay is a matter of pending paperwork. Though details haven’t been revealed, it appears some administrative hurdles are preventing the ex-India skipper from traveling with the first batch.
Virat Kohli To Miss Warm-Up Match Against Bangladesh
This means Virat Kohli is likely miss the warm-up match against Bangladesh and could potentially be a doubt for the tournament opener against Ireland on June 4th.
Kohli is scheduled to fly out on Thursday, May 30th, directly to the USA. Virat Kohli ended the IPL 2024 as the Orange Cap holder with a whopping 741 runs in 15 matches. He was instrumental in RCB’s second-half revival.
With the World Cup kicking off on June 1st, all eyes are on the BCCI to ensure Kohli’s paperwork is settled as soon as possible, allowing him to join the team and contribute his experience and firepower to India’s campaign.
