“Why Tell England?” – Ex-Indian Player Slams Jasprit Bumrah & Team India for Exposing Game Plan!
Aakash Chopra slams India’s decision to reveal Jasprit Bumrah’s limited availability for the England Test series, calling it a tactical mistake that gave England a psychological edge

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has raised serious concerns about the decision to publicly reveal Jasprit Bumrah’s limited availability ahead of the five-match Test series against England.
Bumrah, who starred with a five-wicket haul in the opening Test at Headingley, is expected to feature in only three of the five matches in the series, a detail shared by the team management before the tour began.
Aakash Chopra Not Happy With The Timing
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra expressed his surprise at the early revelation. He suggested that India should have used strategic ambiguity instead of giving England a psychological advantage by confirming Bumrah’s limited participation.
“Bumrah said he will play only three matches, and I am wondering why it was necessary to say it out loud. Why wasn’t it kept a secret?” Chopra said.
“Why give away your hand before the game even begins?”
He believes this early announcement allowed England to plan better, especially considering Bumrah is India’s biggest bowling threat in overseas conditions.
Advantage England?
Chopra further pointed out how Bumrah’s absence in two matches could help England not just mentally, but tactically as well.
“If they know Bumrah won’t play two matches, they will be more confident. They can prepare pitches accordingly, knowing they won’t have to face India’s top bowler,” he added.
Bumrah, who took five wickets in the first Test, was India’s standout performer with the ball. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent England from chasing down 371 and taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
