When Will BCCI Announce India’s Test Squad and Captain for England Tour? Date Revealed
BCCI is set to announce India’s Test captain and squad for the England tour on May 24 at 12 PM IST.

The countdown to India’s tour of England has begun, and all eyes are now on who will lead the team in the five-match Test series starting June 20. The first match will be played at Headingley, Leeds but before that, India is expected to make a big announcement.
Indian Test Captain and Squad to Be Announced on May 24
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reveal the Test squad and the new captain on Saturday, May 24. A press conference is scheduled for 12 PM IST, where chief selector Ajit Agarkar is expected to address the media and name Rohit Sharma’s successor.
Rohit recently retired from the longest format, and his exit has opened the door for a new leader to take charge of India’s red-ball team.
Shubman Gill Likely to Take Over as Captain
Young batter Shubman Gill has emerged as the leading contender to become India’s next Test captain. Although Jasprit Bumrah was once seen as a potential leader after his performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI is not keen to give him the captaincy due to his fitness concerns.
The board reportedly doesn’t want to risk putting more responsibility on a pacer who may not be available for every match.
Warm-Up Game Before Test Series
Before the first Test, the Indian team will play a four-day warm-up match against a local side at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham, starting June 13. This will give players time to adapt to English conditions ahead of the five-match series.
