‘We Didn’t Play Bad Cricket’ – Rohit Sharma on Team India’s Performance against Australia in World Cup 2023 Final

Rohit Sharma, opening up on the World Cup final, said that it was Australia’s day.

It’s been around five months since India’s heartbreak in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma hasn’t forgotten it, and he’s determined to clinch a World Cup win with Team India before he steps down.

Rohit kicked off his journey in the T20 World Cup back in 2007, but he has always seen the 50-over World Cup as the ultimate prize. Even after missing out last year, he is not giving up. He is aiming to stick around until 2027 to turn his dream into reality.

“The 50-over World Cup, for me, is the real deal. We grew up watching that tournament. What’s more, it was held in India, in front of our home crowd, and we performed exceptionally well up until the final. I remember thinking, when we won the semi-finals, ‘Okay, now we’re just one step away from it. We’re doing everything right,” Rohit Sharma said in Breakfast With Champions.

Rohit Sharma added that it was simply an off day for Team India, conceding that they didn’t play poorly. It’s just that Australia had a stellar performance that day. The Indian captain added:

“Australia had a very good day. To be honest, I didn’t think we played bad cricket in that final. Yeah, certain things didn’t go our way, but they were slightly better than us on that day.”
