WBBL 2021 Final: Perth Scorchers Women Beat Adelaide Strikers Women To Win Maiden Title
Perth Scorchers became the fourth different team to win the Women's Big Bash League title as they defeated Adelaide Strikers Women in WBBL 2021.
Perth Scorchers Women, on Saturday (November 27) delivered an all-round display as they thrashed Adelaide Strikers Women by 12 runs in WBBL 2021 final to lift their maiden Women’s Big Bash League title.
South African allrounder Marizanne Kapp has starred with bat and ball to help lift the Perth Scorchers lift their maiden WBBL title.
Adelaide Strikers won the toss and opted to bowl first. Sophie Devine (35) and Beth Mooney (19) gave a decent start to their team. However, it was Heather Graham’s (23) contribution in the middle which turned out to be vital for their team. But soon, she fell prey to Amanda Wellington after giving 23 runs to her team. The best was yet to come as South African star player Marizanne Kapp stood tall and smashed unbeaten 31 off 23.
At the end of the day, it was team’s complete effort that Scorchers were able to post decent 146 runs on the board in their scheduled 20 overs.
Adelaide Strikers, while chasing suffered two early blows as they consistent batting stars Dane van Niekerk and Katie Mack were sent back cheaply. Later, Laura Wolvaardt (25) and skipper Tahlia McGrath (36) stitched a 65-run stand to keep the scorecard running, but both falling in successive overs hurt the Strikers. Madeline Penna resisted with an unbeaten 21-ball 30, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the total to lift the WBBL title.
