Virat Kohli To Take Early Retirement To Spend Time With Family: Ex-England Captain

Michael Vaughan believes that Virat Kohli might take an early retirement to spend time with his family.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan suggested that Virat Kohli could step away from cricket soon to spend more time with his young family.

Virat Kohli spent a lot of time in London with Anushka Sharma, where she gave birth to their second child Akaay, and he returned just a week before IPL 2024.

Due to this, Virat Kohli missed the five-match Test series against England, and Michael Vaughan has now spoken about it. Here’s what he told the Cricbuzz:

“You talk about retirement with Virat Kohli, I look at this in a way that he can play for long. He is that fit. Unless his mind goes and he’s obviously got a young family now. In two-three years’ time, everything changes, and he just wants to spend quiet time; I completely get that.”

“During his time away from the India vs England Test series, I believe he went to London and led a normal life. I’ve read a few of his comments and quotes, and he just absolutely adored that normal life. I think that may take Virat away from cricket, like he just wants to go and have a quiet time for a while,” he added.

Virat Kohli had an outstanding season in IPL 2024 as he amassed a whopping 741 runs in just 15 matches for RCB at a strike rate of 154.70 with an average of 61.75 and 5 fifties, 1 hundred to his name.

However, it all ended in heartbreak as RCB got eliminated from the tournament after losing to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator game at Narendra Modi Stadium.
