Virat Kohli Surpasses Rohit Sharma To Achieve This Huge Milestone In T20I Format
Kohli mustered a delightful 60 runs off 44 balls against Pakistan to reach the landmark.
The former India captain, Virat Kohli, who was looking horribly out of touch just ahead of Asia Cup 2022 has now shown signs of returning to peak form in the ongoing continental tournament.
India might have lost the Super 4 game against the arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday but witnessing the run-machine get his charm back must have relieved the Indian fans.
Kohli smashed a sensational 44-ball 60, braced with four fours and a six to help India reach a stiff total of 181-runs in their stipulated 20 overs. Notably, it is his second half-century score after having scored an unbeaten 44-ball 59 against Hong Kong two nights back at the same venue.
Following the fifty against Pakistan, Kohli surpassed India captain Rohit Sharma to become the player with the most ever fifty-plus scores in T20I cricket.
He now has 32 fifty-plus scores in 94 innings, one more than Rohit, who has four hundred and 27 fifties in 135 T20I matches.
Most Fifty Plus Scores in T20Is
- Virat Kohli: 32 (0 100s, 32 fifties) in 102 matches
- Rohit Sharma: 31 (4 100s, 27 fifties) in 135 matches
- Babar Azam: 27 (1 100, 26 fifties) in 77 matches
- David Warner: 23 (1 100, 22 fifties) in 91 matches
- Martin Guptill: 22 (2 100s, 20 fifties) in 121 matches
It is pertinent to mention here that the former Indian captain took a six-week long break from cricket, which saw him missing the West Indies and Zimbabwe tour before going to UAE for Asia Cup.
Now it seems, the break has done wonders for the flamboyant batter as he is looking to slightly get his form back. Currently, he is the second leading run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2022 with 154 runs in 3 matches.
