Virat Kohli Registers His First-Ever Golden Duck in T20 World Cup History
Virat Kohli registered his first ever golden duck in the T20 World Cup history.
Indian batting mainstay Virat Kohli endured a forgettable outing on Wednesday, registering a golden duck – his first ever in a T20 World Cup – during the team’s clash against USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Opening the innings alongside Rohit Sharma, Kohli’s struggles continued. He edged an outside off delivery from American pacer Saurabh Netravalkar straight into the wicketkeeper’s gloves, leaving India reeling at 1/1 in their chase of a modest 111-run target.
It further compounds a lean patch for the star batter, who has managed scores of just 1, 4, and now 0 in his three outings so far in the tournament. Furthermore his average in T20Is has also fallen below 50s now.
Adding insult to injury, this dismissal also becomes Virat Kohli’s second golden duck in T20Is overall. His first came earlier this year in January during India’s series against Afghanistan in Bengaluru. Overall he has a total of 6 ducks in T20Is.
With the T20 World Cup still in its early stages, Virat Kohli will be hoping to turn the tide and rediscover his scoring touch. The pressure will be on him to contribute significantly as India aims to progress through the tournament.
