Twitter Hails Ravichandran Ashwin As He Becomes The Second Fastest To Claim 400 Test Wickets
Ravichandran Ashwin became the fourth Indian bowler after Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev and Harbhajan Singh, to enter the prestigious club.

India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, on Thursday, became the fastest Indian bowler to register 400 Test wickets.
Ashwin, who was playing his 77th Test, was on 397 wickets at the end of England’s first innings of the ongoing third Test and dismissed England batsmen Ben Stokes, Ollie Pope and Jofra Archer in the second innings to achieve the milestone only after Sri Lanka Muttiah’s Muralitharan. While Muralitharan had taken 73 Tests to reach the milestone, Ashwin took 77 Tests. He surpassed New Zealand pacer Richard Hadlee and South Africa’s Dale Steyn in the list of bowlers quickest to claim 400 Test wickets. Both Hadlee and Steyn had taken 80 Tests to achieve the feat.
Additionally, Ashwin becomes the sixth spinner to take 400 wickets and is only be the third Indian spinner to get to the mark after Anil Kumble (619) and Harbhajan Singh (417).
Meanwhile, his rookie partner Axar Patel completed another five-wicket haul, three in three innings, as India continued to dominate England despite getting out for 145.
