Trevor Bayliss Replaces Anil Kumble As New Head Coach of Punjab Kings
Trevor Bayliss is one of the most successful coaches of T20 arena.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday (September 16) announced Trevor Bayliss as the team’s new head coach ahead of the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bayliss is considered one of the most successful coaches in the T20 arena, having won the 2019 World Cup with England, two IPL titles, and a Big Bash League (BBL) championship with the Sydney Sixers.
Bayliss will replace Anil Kumble at the helm of affairs. Notably, Kumble’s coaching contract was not renewed after the Punjab Kings failed to make it to the playoffs for three consecutive seasons under him.
Commenting on his new role, Trevor Bayliss, Head Coach of Punjab Kings said, “ I’m honored to be given the Head Coach’s role with the Punjab Kings. A foundation franchise with an appetite for success. I look forward to working with a talented squad of players determined to compete for silverware.”
As for Punjab Kings, the team has finished sixth on the league standings in the last four seasons. The appointment of Bayliss will work as a glimmer of hope for the trophy-less franchise and its fans.
