Tom Moody Appointed As Director of Cricket by SunRisers Hyderabad Ahead of IPL 2021
The return of Tom Moody will surely boost the confidence and chances of winning the second IPL title of the Warner led side.
Australia cricketer-turned-coach Tom Moody, on Tuesday, is appointed as the director of the cricket by IPL franchise SunRisers Hyderabad. The former Australian cricketer was the head coach of the David Warner led side before he was replaced by England’s World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss in July last year.
Under Moody’s assistance, SunRisers Hyderabad reached the IPL playoffs thrice and even won the title in 2019.

The Hyderabad based franchise had lauded Tom Moody after parting ways with the 55-year-old in 2019.
“We would like to thank Tom Mody, who has made an enormous impact with the franchise, helping us achieve 5 playoff appearances over the past 7 years, including a much-treasured championship in 2016. We would also like to thank him for his work ethic and leadership over our journey and wish him all the success moving forward,” the franchise had said in their release.
Tom Moody had played eight Test matches and 76 ODIs during his international career between 1987-1999. He was also the part of two (1987 and 1999) World Cup-winning Australian squads.
Other than a seven-year coaching stint at SRH, the 55-year-old also has the experience of coaching Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and Sri Lanka at the highest level in addition to coaching domestic teams in both Australia and England.
As long as SRH IPL 2020 journey is concerned, the David Warner led side reached the play-offs after qualifying third. They lost to Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 2 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
