Madurai Panthers Create TNPL History With Record 240-Run Chase
Madurai Panthers chased 240 against Kovai Kings to set TNPL records for the highest chase and match aggregate.
Madurai Panthers created history in the Tamil Nadu Premier League 2026 by chasing down 240 against Kovai Kings with three balls to spare at Dindigul on Saturday.
The Panthers reached 240/4 in 19.3 overs to complete the biggest successful run chase in TNPL history. The win also kept them unbeaten after two matches in the tournament.
NS Chaturved was the star of the chase, smashing 121 off just 47 balls. His stunning innings included 15 fours and seven sixes, with a strike rate of more than 250.
Kovai Kings had earlier posted 239/4, which became the highest team total in TNPL history at that stage. However, the record lasted only a few hours before the Panthers broke it during their chase.
Siddharth Mahadevan provided a strong start, while captain B Anirudh Sita Ram and Gurjapneet Singh also played key roles in the record chase.
The match produced an extraordinary run-fest, with both teams scoring a combined 479 runs in fewer than 40 overs. It became the highest match aggregate in TNPL history.
The two innings also became the top two highest team totals recorded in the league. Kovai Kings’ 239/4 now ranks second, while Madurai Panthers’ 240/4 sits at the top.
The victory gave Madurai Panthers two wins from two matches. They remain unbeaten and are currently second on the points table.
