‘There’s No Chance’ – Kris Srikkanth’s Bold Remarks on Virat Kohli Playing in T20 World Cup 2024

Virat Kohli hasn’t played any cricket in last two months.

According to Kris Srikkanth, the ex-India captain and ex-selection panel chief, the T20 World Cup 2024 victory for team India seems bleak without Virat Kohli on board.

The T20 World Cup is set to kick off in the West Indies and the USA this June. Kohli made his return to the T20I squad after 14 months for the three-match series against Afghanistan.

However, he didn’t look in threatening form at all on the two occasions he batted. Later, he missed the entire five-match Test series to be with his wife Anushka Sharma during the birth of his second child, Akaay.

Earlier, there were reports from The Telegraph suggesting that selectors are not keen to include Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. They expressed doubts about the suitability of the pitches in the USA and the West Indies, which are low in nature, for Kohli’s style of play.

“There is no chance of Virat Kohli not travelling with the team. He has to be there in the squad. He took us to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup in 2022 and was Player of the Tournament in the ODI World Cup. These critics and rumour mongers have no job. What is the basis of this report? If India have to win the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli is a must,” Kris Srikkanth said.

Virat Kohli will join Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2024 on March 19. His IPL performance will be closely monitored by the selectors, as his selection for the national team will depend on it.
