Star Pacer Returns as Sri Lanka Announce Squad for T20 World Cup 2022

The Asia Cup 2022 champions Sri Lanka, on Friday (September 16) announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, set to be played in Australia.

They have retained the same squad from Asia Cup with some of the players missing owing to respective injury concerns.

Both Dushmantha Chameera and Lahiru Kumara, who missed the Asia Cup 2022 have been recalled in the 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, but their participation in the gala event will be subject to their fitness.

Also Matheesha Pathirana, who made his debut at the Asia Cup, Nuwan Thushara and Asitha Fernando have failed to make a cut to Sri Lanka’s T20 World Cup squad.

The left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka retains his place in the squad following his stellar outing in the UAE recently. Dhananjaya de Silva and Jeffrey Vandersay have also retained their places in the squad.

The likes of Ashen Bandara, Praveen Jayawickrama, Dinesh Chandimal, Binura Fernando and Nuwanidu Fernando have been named as reserves.
