Royal Challengers Bangalore To Release Harshal Patel Ahead of IPL 2024 Auction

Harshal Patel has been one of the most expensive bowlers for RCB in the last couple of IPL seasons.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is all set to part ways with fast bowler Harshal Patel ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction.

Harshal Patel, acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a hefty Rs 10.75 crore in the 2022 mega-auction, struggled to justify his high price tag and often found himself at the receiving end of opposition batters in the recent couple of seasons.

In the 2023 edition of the IPL, Harshal Patel took 14 wickets in 13 matches with an economy rate of 9.66.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s decision to release Harshal Patel will result in an expanded budget for the IPL 2024 auction, paving the way for the team to secure the services of a different young and promising local Indian pacer.

As part of the ongoing trade window, all 10 franchises can engage in team trades, involving either monetary transactions or player exchanges. The deadline for finalising player retention is November 26.

The players auction for the 2024 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to be held in Dubai on December 19. It will also be the first time that an IPL auction will be held outside India.
