Rohit Sharma To Lead This Team, Ex-Mumbai Indians Player Reveals
Mumbai Indians appointed Hardik Pandya as captain ahead of IPL 2024.
Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu, known for his stints with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), expressed his desire to see Rohit Sharma switch from MI to CSK in the future.
Rayudu also endorsed Rohit’s continuation as a player and a potential captain in the cash-rich league. He suggested that Rohit could lead any team he wishes and expressed hope that Rohit might join CSK in 2025, especially if MS Dhoni retires by then.
Here’s what Ambati Rayudu told News24:
“Rohit Sharma can play in the IPL for the next 5-6 years. If he wants to captain, the whole world is open for him. He can easily captain wherever he wants.”
“I want Rohit Sharma to play for CSK in 2025, if MS (Dhoni) retires then Rohit can lead as well,” Rayudu added.
Mumbai Indians Replace Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma, during his tenure with Mumbai Indians, led the team to five IPL titles. However, ahead of IPL 2024, MI replaced him with Hardik Pandya as captain.
Currently, CSK is led by MS Dhoni, who led the team to victory in the previous season, which was their fifth IPL title.
Despite concerns about Dhoni’s availability due to surgery, he is preparing for the upcoming season, although his retirement plans remain uncertain.
